Harnessing Expertise Using Cognitive AI

For industrial companies, knowledge is central to competitive differentiation, now more than ever. Companies can’t transform to new levels of competitive excellence unless critical intellectual property (IP) is used to new effect. This strategic imperative is leading companies to identify, secure, and codify this mission-critical asset.

Cognitive analytics can be applied to crowdsource knowledge from sources that are often tightly siloed, collected but rarely ever used, or not part of an “active” knowledge base.  Cognitive AI applies a reasoning-based philosophy to analytics, and it does so by applying a range of AI and other techniques, including machine learning, semantics, natural language processing, and scenario generators, to name a few.

Moderated by ARC Vice President Mike Guilfoyle, this session will bring together industrial companies that demonstrate a spectrum of scale when using cognitive AI. Georgia-Pacific will share how they've developed cognitive AI platforms that are serving as centralized orchestrators of data, processes, and decisions, from the customer through operations.  Aera Energy, a joint-ownership company of Shell Oil an ExxonMobil, will discuss the targeted use of cognitive AI as a means of building autonomous operations.
