Dr.-Ing. Thomas Dasbach is a consultant for OPC UA at VDMA. In this role, he oversees the development of the OPC UA for machinery specification, a basic specification for machine and plant engineering with the goal of harmonizing fundamental machine information across a wide range of industries. He advises on information modeling for new specifications and accompanies implementation projects of working groups. Furthermore, Thomas is project manager of the open source application "umati", a reference implementation for OPC UA specifications and the OPC UA for Machinery. With more than 300 members, the community behind umati is a continuously growing group dedicated to the open source and uniform implementation of OPC UA applications.
