In 1983, Watanabe joined Mori Building Co., Ltd., an urban redevelopment company, in Minato-ku Tokyo with annual sales 260 billion yen. In 2000, he was assigned to join eHills Corporation, a subsidiary company of Mori Building Co., Ltd. In 2011, he was assigned to become a member of the control system security investigation task force of the METI. In 2012, he became Chairman of the promotion & HRD Committee of the CSSC. In 2016, he became a Board member of the CSSC.
