Shukor has been in Process Safety for Petronas since May 2007. He oversees the implementation of Process Safety for Petronas Group of Companies in Malaysia and abroad (covering key business sectors namely upstream, downstream and gas). The key tasks covers both technical governance and services such as process safety audits, formal safety studies, specific risk assessment such as qualitative and quantitative risk assessment that applies for both project phase and existing facilities. Shukor came as a Principal in Process Safety for PETRONAS after a distinguished 15 year career with this Fortune 500 organization. In 1996, his career started with the involvement in green field project to build Elastomer Composite facility in CABOT and Phthalic Anhydride Plant in BASF-Petronas joint venture complex. He stayed on and further contributed during commissioning, operations phase and numbers of major plant turn around, holding various positions from technologist, operation engineer, shift supervisor and shift superintendent. He was then moved to manage Emulsion Polymer Plant in Union Polymer (wholly owned by Dow Chemical) where process safety has been implemented since 1950s. Shukor holds Bachelor Degree (Hons.) in Chemical Engineering, University Technology of Malaysia, Malaysia.
