Rufus is a technical sales engineer working with Red Lion Controls. He has 25+ years of industrial automation experience, covering the complete lifecycle of products from design to after sales support. He began his career at ESAB Welding and Cutting Products, a leader in fabrication consumables and equipment, while working on his B.S. Mechanical Engineering (Virginia Tech). Over his 17-year tenure with ESAB he held multiple engineering and management positions, lastly serving as the Global Director – R&D for the robotic and mechanized cutting division. During these years he gained a very deep knowledge of motion control, industrial communications, process controls and welding/cutting processes. In 2015, he left ESAB to join R. L. Matus & Associates, a manufacturers’ representative of automation products in the industrial space, including Red Lion Controls. Over the last 8 years, he has served as a sales and support specialist on many projects related to IoT, data collection/visualization, networking, motion control, and robotics.
