Joji Tsurumoto received his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Nagasaki University, and started his career in Tanabe Seiyaku in 2006. He has varied experience in the development of manufacturing processes, the manufacturing of drug substances for clinical trial, and in pharmaceutical regulatory applications, spanning 13 years. He joined Takasago Chemical Corporation in 2019, and currently works as one of the managers of the iFactory project that is subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). He is in charge of developing continuous manufacturing processes and formulating user requirement specifications of iFactory. He received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 4th Japan Open Innovation Awards.
