Ian leads multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and information security professionals to support automation system security across bp. As a Chartered Control Engineer and a member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security, Ian has broad experience in control systems as well as IT security. He has chaired the LOGIIC group, driving security improvements in the automation industry with other oil and gas companies and US DHS. He has represented bp in various standards groups and government information exchanges. Ian was part of the GIAC GICSP steering group, advising on the creation and update of professional security qualifications for the industrial control community. Most recently, Ian has led the creation of a mandatory security standard for automation system security and the creation of a security Centre of Excellence within bp.
