Dr. Tsutomu Takai joined Yamatake Honeywell Co., Ltd. (currently Azbil Corporation) in 1990. He is mainly in charge of system business planning and system product planning for the industrial market. In 2019, he was transferred to coincide with the establishment of an R&D organization specializing in AI, and in charge of launching the new organization and planning AI-related businesses. In 2022, he was transferred again at the same time as the establishment of the current organization, and engaged in planning work for "new automation" business, which is one of the company’s three growth areas. He creates technology and business to improve the ability to respond to various scenarios which are difficult to respond to with conventional automation technology alone in business environment changes at customers’ sites. In addition, he currently serves as president of the Society for Industrial Plant Human Factors of Japan, as a secretary of the Thailand-Japan Smart Industrial Safety Consortium, and as a member of the Ichihara City Petroleum Industrial Complex Safety Promotion Examination Committee.
