Ron Besuijen
Simulator Training Specialist
NOVA Chemicals

Ron has 34 years of experience in the petrochemical industry. In that time, 18 of those years have been training process operators with high fidelity simulators. This experience also included the development of a new simulator facility and acting as project manager for the development of a new simulation model. He championed six research projects with the Centre for Operator Performance with a desire to improve his own and his trainee's skills in handling process upsets. In his 16 years as an operator, he commissioned and started a new petrochemical facility. He also qualified on four control panels and eight outside areas. In his recently published book “Troubleshooting Tactics: How Process Operators Make Critical Decisions” he shared the concepts he gained from the Centre for Operator Performance and his own experiences. Ron is also a member of IPECC (Interprovincial Power Engineer Curriculum Committee)
