Rockwell Automation announced an agreement with 1PointFive to purchase carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits for direct air capture carbon removal from its Direct Air Capture (DAC) facility under construction in Texas. This 1PointFive DAC facility, known 
as STRATOS, is designed to capture 500,000 tonnes of CO2 per year when fully operational and is expected to begin commercial operations in mid-2025. Ther primary driver for the partnership is Rockwell Automation's comitment to accelerate the net zero transition.
Once operational, STRATOS will extract carbon dioxide from ambient air directly and can address CO2 emissions from dispersed sources, such as automobile and airplane travel, which is oftentimes difficult to tackle. DAC and future direct air capture facilities are expected to provide a practical climate solution that hard-to-decarbonize industries can use to help address their emissions.
The CDR credits from 1PointFive aligns with Rockwell Automation’s commitment to support technologies, such as DAC, that can help to advance sustainability goals by providing a more practical, transparent, and durable carbon removal solution.
