I first met Raimund Klein, Siemens Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Industries, ASEAN, just over a decade ago when I was helming Control Engineering Asia magazine and he had just arrived in Singapore to lead the Siemens automation and drives business for the region.

Looking back at the interview now, which was published in September 2010, our discussion covered topics including the then new S7-1200 compact controller, enhanced cybersecurity and APC libraries for the PCS 7 process control system, and the need to develop an organization to handle the complexity of the Siemens product range and support channel partners across multiple industries.

Our recent meeting to record this ARC Digital Transformation Viewpoints Podcast reflected in many ways the transition of automation to digitalization, as we discussed things almost completely unknown in 2010 – including additive manufacturing, data analytics, AI, IoT, digital readiness, digital factory design – all within the context of how Siemens is driving the digitalization of industries across Southeast Asia.
